BEN AINSLIE

BIO

At 31 years old, Ben Ainslie is already recognized as one of the finest sailors in the world.  He began sailing at 4 years old and first competed at 10.  Ainslie’s first international competition was the 1989 Optimist World Championships in Japan.  In 1995, he won a gold medal at the World Youth Championships.  He was the British Yachtsman of the year in 1995, 1995, 2000, and 2002. He was also the ISAF World Sailor of the Year in 1998 and 2002.

Ainslie has competed in the last 4 Olympic Games, winning a Silver medal in Atlanta in 1996 followed by three consecutive Gold Medals in the Sydney, Athens, and Beijing Olympic Games.  This impressive medal count marks Ainslie as Britain’s greatest Olympic sailor.
