BIO
Name: Guy Pere
Profession: Longshoreman
Home Town: Laie, Oahu, Hawaii
Currently Living: North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii
Goofy, Refular or neither: Regular
Years Riding: 32 years
Memorable Moment: My first Kaiwi Channel crossing
Future Goals: Maintain a healthy lifestyle in the ocean. Be a good husband to my wife Katie, and hopefully one day raise a family of surfers.
Heaviest bodily Trauma: Having a Yamaha Waverunner come down across my back on a 15ft (Hawaiian Style) wave. Besides almost drowning, I thought my back was broken. My hands and feet went numb and I couldn't get a breath. Luckily no broken bones, just a real close call.
Greatest Professional Achievement: Over 50 Kaiwi Channel crossings total and still counting (Sailing Canoe, One man Canoe , Surf Ski, Paddle Board, Six Man Canoe). Traveling the world surfing exotic locations and learning about the people, their cultures and ways of life.
Influences: My friends and family are my strongest influences. No matter how tough the challenge, I know they are there supporting me, giving me the strength to finish what I started.
Favorite Kaenon Style: I like the Hard Kore when I'm on the ocean paddling, The Kore when I'm riding trails on my dirtbike. I really like the look of the Jetty for cruising into Haleiwa for lunch.
Thank you's: I want to thank Steve Rosenberg for stopping by the tower at Ehukai Beach Park with this cool new line of eyewear called Kaenon, and asking me if I wanted on the team. There were only a couple of styles at the time, but he had a vision of what was to come, and wow! Look at what it's turned into. To my fellow team riders: Always be grateful for what you have, and let us all try to Live Aloha.
