Driving a Porsche 911 in the GTC class, Kaenon Polarized driver Andy Lally, wearing Arlo Matte Black G12, won the race at famed Lime Rock, and with it takes over the lead in the overall Series Championship.

(from The Racers Group website):

The victory is the first since the team’s return to ALMS competition this season, and equally important means that (with driving partner, Frenchman Henri Richard and) Lally have assumed the GTC series points lead.

For Lally, who won the race on tires that lasted nearly 120 laps, Saturday’s race was a perfect combination of fast but patient driving, combined with a perfect team effort.

“With all the traffic out there, chasing Jeroen and preserving the tires at the same time made for a really challenging race,” stated Lally. “These guys called a perfect race today, and Henri was absolutely fantastic out there. For his first season in the series he’s driving like an absolute professional, and I’m very proud to be part of his first professional victory.”

Danica Patrick Finishes a Strong 2nd in Indycar’s Firestone 550k

danica-patrick-sunglasses-pino

Danica Patrick (Pino Black G12) used well-earned momentum from her Indy 500 finish a week earlier, to take her best finish of the season — 2nd place at the Texas Motor Speedway under the lights.

According to Racer.com; “In one of the most competitive performances of her career so far, Andretti Autosport driver Patrick emerged as polesitter Briscoe’s main rival in the second half of the race, but the Penske driver was able to fend her off and clinch his first win of 2010. Briscoe said his duel with Patrick for the win at the beginning of the final stint was a key part of that fun: “Danica got by us and I didn’t want to make any aggressive moves and block. I gained some momentum on the next lap, used the push-to-pass and was able to pass her out of Turn 4 and into Turn 1. She gave us a real run for our money tonight. It was fun racing side-by-side with her.

“Patrick made her final stop a lap earlier than Briscoe and momentarily swept into the lead as her rival got back up to speed, but she could not hang on for long before Briscoe inched past to reclaim first place. As they hit traffic, Briscoe started to build an advantage again, eventually winning by 1.4 seconds.

“It was a good weekend last weekend in Indy and it was a good weekend here in Texas,” mused Patrick. “Sometimes the little victories that I have throughout the season are not necessarily obvious on the track. Maybe they’re in other aspects of what I’m doing––winning little victories here and there to get everything in line to perform from top to bottom on race day. I’ve been working hard all season. It’s just really nice to have a result to show how hard I’ve been working and how hard the team has been working as well.”

Fellow Kaenon driver Ryan Hunter-Reay, (Klay Black G12) finished well at a respectable 7th, wearing a customized carbon fiber cast on his right wrist to protect his surgically repaired thumb after tearing ligaments in last Sunday’s Indy 500.

Danica Patrick Regains Ground in Indy 500, Narrowly Misses Crash of the Year

Danica Patrick, wearing Pino, Black, G12 lens, has endured a rough year so far and rolled into qualifying and testing at her favorite race, the Indy 500, after a miserable month of scrutiny both from the media and fans. However, she stuck to her guns and converted the energy into a strong and respectable finish at the “Grand Daddy of Them All,” with a well-driven 6th place finish. After qualifying poorly at 23rd on the grid, she drove a smart, steady and often brave 500 miles for her second top-10 finish of the season.

danica-patrick-sunglasses

Driving for a crowd of over 350,000 fans in attendance for the 94th running of this speed classic, Patrick was one of a record four women in this year’s Indy 500, along with Sarah Fisher and rookies Simona De Silvestro of Switzerland and Ana Beatriz of Brazil.

“I’m very happy with the result, and the reasons we got it were that our pit stops rocked and we had a perfect strategy,” she said. “We did struggle a little bit in the early going” and “almost went a lap down” to the leaders, Patrick said. But she gradually climbed through the field. “I’m really glad that yellow [flag] came out at the end, because we were cutting it real close on fuel,” she said.

Danica also narrowly missed a spectacular last-lap crash which involved teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay. Hunter-Reay, wearing Klay, Black, G12 lens, struggled this month for speed, but found it on Race Day driving most of the race at or near fifth. Then saw his good race nearly turn into horrible nightmare as just before the finish when he ran out of gas and was subsequently clipped from behind by Mike Conway. Already driving with torn ligaments in his thumb suffered in an earlier Pit Lane incident, Hunter-Reay was nearly beheaded as Conway’s car was sent airborne.

In what is being described as one of the most spectacular crashes in Indy racing’s history, Conway’s #24 car rolled over the back tire of back wheel of Hunter-Reay’s #37 car, which served as a catapult and flung the Indy car into the air, causing a back-flip, and a slam into the high barrier, eventually landing back on the track in a heap.

Contributing to the Mike Conway crash is that his speed was at least 20 miles per hour faster than everyone else at the time. Most of the leaders were running on fumes and slowing down to conserve fuel in the final laps. Conway was gassed up and making passes left and right, once of which caught the tire of Hunter-Reay.

Both Conway and Hunter-Reay suffered injuries, but the fact that anyone walked away from the horrific crash is a miracle. Best wishes and a speedy recovery to all involved.

Lally Drives Into Grand-AM Recordbooks, Winning 100th Start

Kaenon driver Andy Lally drives into the record books at Virginia International Raceway, winning for the 21st time on his 100th series start.

Wearing Klay Black G12, Andy Lally, making his 100th career start, had contact with Bill Auberlen with two laps remaining but held on to win in GT, driving TRG’s No. 66 AXA Porsche GT3 started by Ted Ballou.

andy-lally-kaenon-klay

Lally made his move on a call by TRG team owner Kevin Buckler to stay out with the No. 66 AXA Porsche GT3 after the second caution flag waved, moving from seventh position to take second. He took the lead shortly after the restart and led the final 25 circuits. It was Lally’s 21st career victory and first for Ballou.

Bill Auberlen, who took over from Paul Dalla Lana in the No. 94 Turner Motorsports BMW M6 at the 45 minute mark, pressured Lally down the stretch. The two ran side-by-side with two laps remaining before making contact. Auberlen spun through the grass, and recovered to finish eighth.

Lally then held off Jeff Segal by .712 seconds, ending the two-race winning streak of Segal and Emil Assentato in the SpeedSource No. 69 FXDD Mazda RX-8.

“Kevin made a great call,” Lally said. “We stayed out under the second to get the wave by, then the pit crew had a lightning stop that got us out in front of the pace car. Bill was coming up on us a second a lap. We raced as clean as we could. I just held my ground – I wasn’t going to give more than an inch. To celebrate my 100th race with a win was monumental.”

Danica Braves Torrential Weather of St. Pete, Finishes Seventh in Latest IndyCar Race

Torrential rain postponed the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, pushing race day back to Monday morning. Danica Patrick, wearing Kaenon Polarized Sunglasses in Burnet Havana G12 and Pino Havana G12, powered through traffic to finish seventh in the second race of the IndyCar 2010 season. Proving that driving two different series and two totally different race cars in the same season is no easy feat, Danica Patrick is showing she’s capable of performing, despite the comments from the nay-sayers.

Danica Patrick Back in the IndyCar Seat in Sao Paolo, Brazil

Danica Patrick launched the 2010 IndyCar season at the Sao Paolo 300. Her car colors remained the same, her suit color remained the same, her eyewear of choice remained the same, but her vehicle, circuit type and location all completely changed last weekend. Back to fidgety open wheel IndyCars, Danica raced the streets of Brazil’s largest city on a bumpy, slick road course that more resembled Mr Toad’s Wild Ride than IndyCar race track.

danica

The inaugural Indy race in Brazil and season opener was fraught with course problems. Danica survived a first lap incident due to a massive, scary pileup in the first corner, followed by endured a rain-dumping thunderstorm, a spin-out, and at the end of it all a really long day.

Wearing Burnet and Pino, Danica Patrick finished fifteenth. Not what she wanted, but she’s now committed to the IndyCar series for the next few months. The next race is the St. Petersburg, Florida street race, followed by the first-ever IndyCar race in Birmingham, Alabama, and then the Long Beach Grand Prix in Kaenon’s back yard.

Danica in Burnet

Strapping it on!

Super scary wreck in turn one after the start…that’s Marco Andretti in the bottom car with the other squarely on top of his helmet.
Both drivers somehow walked away unhurt.

Danica Patrick Toughs it Out in Sam’s Town, Las Vegas

AUTO RACING – NASCAR

danica-patrick-sunglasses-burnet

Last weekend Danica Patrick was on the track in Las Vegas for her third NASCAR.  She heads back to IndyCar, totally focusing on that series and her main goal of Winning of the Indy 500 in May. Danica will drive both series throughout the summer, starting up NASCAR again in late June.

Still the focus of intense media coverage and scrutiny, Danica is showing a lot of class, dedication and the ability to digest heaps of humble pie.  She’s not only earning respect from her fellow NASCAR drivers, she’s making big gains on the track as well.

Racing as high as 3rd place after starting way back in 37th, she was taken out by another driver in a multi-car accident just shy of the halfway point.

Racer.com wrote, ‘Danica Patrick showed great progress on her third outing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series until contact with a backmarker put her out of the race.

After qualifying down in 37th, she dived on the inside of Michael McDowell on lap 84 at Turn One, the pair made contact and both cars ended up against the barrier.  He later took the blame for bringing her afternoon to an early end when she was running 24th and a lap down on the race leader.

“The car ahead of me was really slow and I caught him down the front straight and it was just going slow. So I went to go underneath him as he drifted up to the wall and he turned down in,” Patrick explained. “I guess I probably should have seen all the tape on the left-rear bumper and say, ‘I probably shouldn’t be on his left-rear bumper.’ But sure enough he turned down and took us both out. So, what are you going to do?”

Before the incident, Patrick had run as high as third thanks to being out of sequence with most of the leaders and running a very long first stint until lap 73. Her times on new rubber on her second tire stint looked comparable with some of those in the top-10 and she was among the fastest cars on the track right before crashing out.

“It’s a real bummer because I was really hooked up there after we got [new] tires back on and you know, we were probably one of the quicker cars on the track because we just stickered it up and I felt good,” Patrick added.’

Danica Drives On–Media Blitz Continues, NASCAR #2

AUTO RACING – FONTANA, CA

danica-patrick-sunglasses

Danica Patrick had a very full week, which culminated in her second NASCAR attempt in Fontana, CA on Saturday. After making appearances on Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen DeGeneres, multiple LA-area news shows and features in People and US Weekly magazines, she actually squeezed in some time to drive her second NASCAR race in Fontana, CA.

She had a tough go, finishing 31st. But, she’s focused, and is doing everything right—one step at a time—and is taking her lumps with class. When you compare the last four Indy Car drivers success (or lack thereof) making the transition to NASCAR—she is right on pace to where those great drivers were in their first races.

Burnet and Pino were her Kaenon Polarized Sunglasses of choice over the weekend.

Saturday will be Patrick’s last NASCAR Nationwide Series race of her initial three-race stint before she goes on a four-month hiatus to return to driving full-time in the Izod IndyCar Series. Hitting the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday in the Sam’s Town 300, she’ll return to NNS competition at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in June.

Danica-Mania Kicks Off! – NASCAR Debut

AUTO RACING

danica-patrick-kaenon-walking

Danica Patrick just wrapped up a weekend that could fill up an entire memory book in and of itself! She practiced and drove her debut NASCAR race Friday and Saturday, finishing in a very solid sixth place, then starred in multiple Go Daddy Super Bowl commercials Sunday alongside being promoted for her prime time television drama debut.

danica-patrick-kaenon-sunglasses

This week she goes into non-stop media mode, guest starring on prime time TV series “CSI: NY” on Wednesday night. Next week she will be working the talk show circuit–on morning radio, and daytime and late night television.

In Saturday’s incident-packed ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Daytona, Danica Patrick and the Green and Black Go Daddy #7 pushed, got pushed, spun and rebounded around the famous Daytona Speedway to a respectable sixth place in her first-ever Stock Car race. She overcame a tough spin from contact with Nelson Piquet Jr. late in the race and ran as high as fifth before running out of drafting partners to move farther up the order.

danica-partickgodaddy-car-kaenon

“The car felt pretty good, so that was really fun,” Patrick said. “I was going side by side with people, and the Go-Daddy car doesn’t look very pretty but it was fun.”

Her solid finish convinced Patrick and JR Motorsports that Danica is ready to compete in the Nationwide Series. Danica Patrick and the team were initially wary of entering the race because of the top-level talent it attracts as the biggest race of the season.

“I think Danica proved to everyone that she can compete in stock cars at a high level, and right now seat time is extremely important,” said Kelley Earnhardt, general manager of JR Motorsports, a team she owns with brother Dale Earnhardt Jr. “She has worked extremely hard during the past two months for this opportunity. Her dedication and work ethic is infectious.”

Black Burnet G12 was Danica’s sunglass of choice for the action packed weekend.

Danica Patrick Heats Up Prime Time

AUTO RACING
In case you’ve been completely off grid over the last month, ever since announcing her debut in the male-dominated world of NASCAR, Danica Patrick has been everywhere in the mainstream media!

danica-patrick-wearing

Her much-hyped Go Daddy commercials have begun to be leaked online and are creating quite the stir. Danica stars as a trio of iconic movie women—a brunette Marilyn Monroe, a “Flashdance”-era Jennifer Beal, and a “Weird Science” siren Kelly LeBrock.  These commercials are getting crazy pre-game buzz, to see the first, check it out here.

Word on the street is also that Danica will be making her prime time television drama debut as a guest star on CSI: NY on CBS. The show will air on February 18th and features Danica Patrick and Antonio Sabato Jr. playing Formula race car drivers who get into an explosive car crash during an expedition race through New York City.

And, all of this is leading up to her debut of yet another sort—the IndyCar star who recently announced she will be dipping a toe into NASCAR, signed a two-year deal with JRM last month. Danica Patrick will make twelve or thirteen NASCAR starts in each of the next two seasons, trying to conflict as little as possible with her open-wheel schedule. As of now, her debut is still slated for this year’s second Nationwide event, at Auto Club Speedway in Southern California.

We can’t wait!

Upcoming race: February 13th ARCA series in Daytona – this will be her stock car debut!

Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen

AUTO RACING – IndyCar Series – Watkins Glen, NY

Coming off the Camping World Grand Prix at the Glen, Danica Patrick started 7th, finished 11th. “It was a challenging race today. We were running upfront at the beginning of the race but as the day went on I started to lose the car. I was bottoming out a lot at the end of the race which made me lose position. We were really strong this morning so I’m disappointed that we ended up 11th. But overall it was a good weekend for me, I feel like I’m getting more confident on the road courses which is helpful since we are racing similar courses the next two weekends.”

Driver: Danica Patrick (Burnet Havana G12)
Car: #7 Boost Mobile/Motorola Dallara/Honda/Firestone
Danica Patrick: Started 7th, finished 11th

Currently in 5th place in points, Danica continues with solid driving and consistent finishes this year. As rumors continue to swirl about what racing series she might drive – her star continues to rise in this “contract” year, proving that she is a strong contender and fan favorite.

IndyCar Series Suntrust Indy Challenge

AUTO RACING – Richmond, VA
Switching it up and running BURNY Tortoise G12 this weekend, Danica Patrick Started 10th, finished 5th as she continued her solid driving and consistent finishes this year despite some serious early week confrontations and accusations from the Andretti Green Racing Team drivers (AGR), including Danica, that the team is not fielding fast cars and having “set-up” issues in the garage and with team engineers. The oval night race didn’t provide for a lot of passing, but leaves Danica well positioned in the overall points race for the Series Championship – as rumours continued to swirl about what racing series she might drive – her star continues to rise in this “contract” year.

Driver: Danica Patrick
Car: #7 Boost Mobile/Motorola Dallara/Honda/Firestone

“I’m really glad we were able to make another top-five finish for the Boost Mobile/Motorola car. We struggled with qualifying yesterday, but we worked really hard to figure out what we needed to do to have a good outcome. The guys did a really great job in the pits, the car felt good all night. I wish we were able to race up front with the leaders but we got caught in lapped traffic. Overall a great way to way to end a challenging weekend for Andretti Green.”

Danica Patrick – Iowa Corn Indy 250

AUTO RACING INDY CAR SERIES – NEWTON, IA
Danica Patrick led about 22 laps of the Iowa Corn Indy 250, before flat tires and bad luck intervened. Her comment after the race:

“We started off with a good car, but it just wasn’t our day. We got a couple flat tires at the beginning of the race, which was a bummer but then we just changed up the strategy a bit, which allowed us to lead a few laps. But then the yellows started to come out and we were at the wrong place at the wrong time. But it was a top-10 finish for us, so if this is the worst finish we have this season, I can’t complain.”

Danica Patrick: Started 5th, finished 9th

Danica continues her strong start to the 2009 season with a 5th place finish – her 4th top 5 in 5 races. Both Kaenon Polarized drivers are in the top 5 for the season’s overall championship.

Danica Patrick’s Indy 500 Podium Finish

AUTO RACING – INDY 500 – Indianapolis, IN
Danica Patrick, wearing Kaenon Polarized Sunglasses in the yet to be released BURNET™, started 10th and finished 3rd – locking in a career-best Indy 500 performance. With her first podium finish at the brickyard, Danica rounded out a much hype filled month of May with a respectable 3rd place! She continues to build on her celebrity (countless commercial time was filled with Danica ads promoting several products), while confirming her unmistakable driving ability with the big boys on the track at over 200mph. In addition to Danica’s racing abilities, she has a great sense of style and fashion. As a long time supporter of Kaenon Polarized, her design and fashion wisdom has inspired our designers on several color treatments and products, including the stylish Calais model and the new Tobacco Denim color in the popular Georgia. In working with her on the lens’ performance as well as frame performance and styling, she has been a part of Kaenon’s design and engineering process every step of the way. Danica alternates between her favorites and can be seen wearing CALAIS, GEORGIA, BURNY, EDEN, and KABIN accessorizing depending on activity, style and preference.

Ryan Briscoe starting on the front row led briefly and had a strong run till a strange, bad set of tires caused him to lose traction and valuable speed, having to pit to fix the problem with a new set of Firestones. He was never a factor after that.

Next up is the Milwaukee Mile, televised live this Sunday, again on ABC.

Kaenon Polarized SR-91 Lenses – True Driving Performance

The development of SR-91® began in the lab. But the real test of our lens technology happens where it matters most – on championship-level athletes who require performance. Where all the talk stops, and reality is measured by results. On the road, field, course, snow, trail, and water. Only SR-91 polarized lenses perform at the highest level like no other – without compromise.

Whether on the track or driving down the street, road warriors of all types can benefit from Kaenon Polarized SR-91 lenses, which provide a safer and more pleasurable driving experience.

• SR-91 offers glare reduction at optimum levels to eliminate glare from road surfaces and the dash of your car so you can see potential road hazards.
• Extremely light weight provides all-day comfort.
• Light Transmission Control technology tunes the light for different driving and lighting conditions.
• High-resolution optics provide unparalleled clarity.

Only SR-91 polarized lenses perform at the highest level – without compromise. No other lens offers better clarity, impact-protection, and glare-reduction all in one ultra-lightweight lens.

It has long been thought that the best method to spot water hazards on the road is by identifying the mirror-like reflection they emit. Actually, glare off of a road surface (or other vehicles) can prove to be distracting, dangerous and even blinding. Unfortunately, inferior polarized lenses distort your vision and depth perception – which tend to offset the glare-reducing benefits of polarization.

With Kaenon’s proprietary SR-91 polarized lenses, blinding glare is eliminated. Consequently, you are able to see the road clearly, with true depth perception and color representations. As a result, you are now able to see water hazards and changes in terrain for what they are. This allows you an opportunity to react and to make necessary adjustments rather than wondering what might be underneath the blinding glare reflecting up from the road.

Danica Patrick has inspired some of the styles that Kaenon has produced over the years. In working with her on the lens’ performance and also the frame performance and styling, she has been a part of Kaenon’s design and engineering process every step of the way. Most recently she has inspired the metal inlay on the CALAIS model. More of her inspiration will be seen toward the end of this year with the addition of three new styles. Currently, her go-to pieces are CALAIS, GEORGIA, BURNY and EDEN.

Ryan Briscoe is a man who knows performance when he sees it. He has locked on to our popular JETTY style and mixes it up with its range of frame colors – from Seaweed to Matte Black. But one thing always remains the same – the SR-91 G12 lens which gives him ultimate visual performance.

Danica, Burning Out on the Tarmac in Her New Car Colors

AUTO RACING

Danica Patrick has traded in the black and blue No. 7 car for an eye-catching black and orange model. Already, the Andretti Green Racing driver has a positive vibe about the car heading into the Indianapolis 500.

“I keep thinking (Dario) Franchitti won (2007) in an orange and black car,” Patrick said after unveiling the new livery and paint scheme for the Month of May and remainder of the IndyCar Series season at the Indianapolis International Airport. “I think the colors are really sporty and very cool. It sort of reflects how I am. Edgy and fun.”

Boost Mobile, the prepaid division of Sprint Nextel, in partnership with Motorola is the primary sponsor.
