PGA Tour Update; Rain, Rain Go Away…

GOLF – Northern Trust Open, Pacific Palisades, CA

The weather didn’t provide much sun last week, but Kaenon’s golfers braved the elements and thanks to the range of Kaenon performance lens tints, played through the tough weather at the famed Riviera Country Club in the Northern Trust Los Angeles Open. Robert Allenby lives in Hard Kore C50 lens, rain or shine, and battled conditions more similar to St. Andrews Scotland than to LA, as the area saw heavy rain throughout the tournament.

Kevin Stadler wearing the new Klay Matte Black G12 finished 10th. Allenby continued his streak of solid play collecting a top 30, as did Rod Pampling in Hard Kore G28 Rx.

Allenby, Love, Streelman and Others Start Season Strong

GOLF
Down to the wire; as always, playing in Hard Kore, C50 Lens, Robert Allenby was tied for the lead going into the final round of the Sony Open in Hawaii but just missed closing the deal. After a win in Australia last month, and coming close several times last year, Allenby makes a very solid start to the season as the Tour swings into California over the next couple of months.

His second shot out of the rough on the 18th came out hot and over the green, and he did well to give himself a realistic chance at birdie and a playoff.

Allenby, who won the Nedbank Challenge on the Sunshine Tour and the Australian PGA Championship on the Australasian PGA Tour at the end of last year, closed with a 67.

“I’m happy with second,” Allenby said. “It’s a great way to start the year and I think this is just a start of a really, really big year for me. I was looking forward before even coming here on a real good, solid year, and I think a good, solid year for me is definitely a few wins. I know I’m capable of doing it. It didn’t happen today, but it will happen close in the future.”

Playing on a sprained ankle, Allenby will take a week off to rest before he goes for a first win on the PGA Tour at the San Diego Open at Torrey Pines.

Davis Love III, playing in Hard Kore, G28 lens, finished 5th at the Sony Open.

Also out on the tour and in their Kaenon eyewear are Kevin Stadler, Lewi Black Pearl, G12 lens, and Kevin Streelman, Hard Kore, G12 lens. Both fought the rainy conditions in last weeks’ Bob Hope Classic. Streelman played a back to back 62 and 63 in the last two rounds and vaulted himself into contention for the final round, finishing 10th. Stadler came in in the top 20 at 18th.

Kaenon’s Robert Allenby Prevails in Sudden Death Playoff

GOLF

Wearing Kaenon Polarized Sunglasses at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa—as he does every round of golf — Robert Allenby (Hard Kore Black Copper 50) beat Henrik Stenson after three holes of sudden death to take to take the South African PGA Tour’s richest tournament. Allenby is the first Australian in 29 years to win this tournament.

He started the final round two back, paired in the last grouping, and came up 18 with a one-shot lead—par, he wins.  He bogeyed 18 which forced a playoff with Stenson.

Disappointed with himself not to finish it in regulation, Allenby was determined to take the win after several close calls in 2009, and the $1.2million winner’s check.  ”I thought we were going to be there all night,” Allenby said. “But I’m proud to be the first Australian to win this title, and I knew once Henrik pushed his approach out right (on the final playoff hole), I had a chance if I could hit the green in regulation.”

kevin-streelman-blog

Playing in Hard Kore Tobacco with G12 lenses PGA Tour player Kevin Streelman clinched the inaugural $1million Kodak Challenge – winner take all format – with a birdie on the 17th hole at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic in Orlando, Florida. A new, unique format that extends through most of the PGA Tour, Kevin claimed the Kodak Challenge million-dollars via a separate, PGA Tour KODAK-sponsored prize for the most birdies made during a certain stretch.

Steven Powell, director of the Kodak Challenge noted, “I don’t think we could ask for a better ambassador than Kevin Streelman as our very first champion.”

Kevin’s caddie Michael Collins also is an avid backer of the Kaenon Hard Kore in Black G12 on and off the course.

British Open at Turnberry Golf Club

GOLF – TURNBERRY, SCOTLAND
Tom Watson – what a show!
John Daly, wearing Spindle S2 C50, C28 and even C12 during the varying weather of the British Open on the Scottish west coast delivered a solid Open showing he’s re-committed to his golf game and has the ability to produce quality results. John Daly finished at +4, same as Davis Love, III who will go under the Laser this week to have Lasik corrective surgery on his eyes. Robert Allenby never got anything going and neither Rod Pampling or Brian Gay made the cut.

John Daly and his girlfriend Anna, put on her own fashion show, matching her Kaenon’s to her/his daily outfit.

John Daly in Kaenon Spindle S2 Ends 2 under for Round 1 of The Open Championships

GOLF – AILSA COURSE AT TURNBERRY IN SCOTLAND

John Daly makes the leaderboard on Thursday, the opening day of the 138th Open Championship at Turnberry finishing up Round 1 with a solid 2 under par. Having won the British Open in 1995 at St. Andrews, John Daly gets fans amped up as we head into the weekend. Excitement will surely come from his game, which is always interesting with every shot. John’s showing how much fun he’s having by the outfits he’s adorning on course; loud, fun and creative, sort of like his golf game! What he’s taking very seriously, is his eyewear. Wearing Kaenon Polarized and the lightweight semi-rimless Spindle S2 with Copper 12 lenses, John is seeing every break and subtlety on each putt. He’s religious about his Kaenon’s and he’s playing great golf!
