Last weekend in Crans Montana, Switzerland, Julia Mancuso continued her podium resurgence at the first post-Olympics World Cup event, with a Bronze Medal run in the Women’s Super G. She ran Delite Tortoise G12 and Leila Black Opal G12 celebrating her bronze medal in Crans Montana, Switzerland.

Canadian speed skater Denny Morrison, wearing Kore, Black, G12 lens and fellow Canadian long track speed skaters defeated the U.S. team to win the men’s team pursuit gold medal at the Richmond Olympic Oval in the final days of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

From Denny Morrison’s website:

‘Before the Olympics there were high expectations for the men’s long track team, especially for the 24-year-old Morrison. But he failed to reach the podium in the 5,000 and 1,000 meters as well as his specialty, the 1,500, in which he used to be the world record holder. There he finished ninth. Although there were reports he was upset with the coaches and the sport bureaucracy, Morrison said it was all on him and used the media reports as motivation.

“It’s a roller-coaster of emotions,” said Morrison of the last 10 days. “I like the conclusion the best. It’s like a story with a good ending, with turmoil in between.

“It’s cool to be able to come together after no medals for any of the men’s team. To win gold as a team, there’s no better way to finish off the Olympics for us.”

In the final, Canada quickly took the lead in the eight-lap race and by the end of the second lap was nearly three-quarters of a second ahead of the Americans. Twice when the U.S. closed the gap, the Canadians reestablished themselves, finally winning by just .21 of a second.’

Last week in Vancouver, British Columbia, special guest lead singer JD Fortune and INXS rocked the BC Place Stadium Wednesday evening during the band’s sold out Vancouver Olympic Victory Ceremony concert.

Fortune, wearing Delite sunglasses by Kaenon Polarized delivered a gold medal-worthy performance, ending with the enthusiastic crowd’s demand for an encore, the first and only time of the Olympic concert series. From the moment he hit the stage, JD mesmerized the audience with his larger than life stage presence and vocal performance. Fortune also wrote and recorded The Death of a Motivational Speaker–a collection of songs that began as an idea for a solo concept album. Instead, it evolved into an ongoing artistic event of audio, video and interaction shared directly with his fans via his website. This new entertainment business model has proven an overwhelming success as evidenced by the millions of hits on the site.

One of Fortune’s songs, One More Day, (Election Day) will be featured in promotional spots for the new CBS prime time drama from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Miami Medical, which premiers Friday, April 2 at 10/9c.

Last weekend Danica Patrick was on the track in Las Vegas for her third NASCAR.  She heads back to IndyCar, totally focusing on that series and her main goal of Winning of the Indy 500 in May. Danica will drive both series throughout the summer, starting up NASCAR again in late June.

Still the focus of intense media coverage and scrutiny, Danica is showing a lot of class, dedication and the ability to digest heaps of humble pie.  She’s not only earning respect from her fellow NASCAR drivers, she’s making big gains on the track as well.

Racing as high as 3rd place after starting way back in 37th, she was taken out by another driver in a multi-car accident just shy of the halfway point.

Racer.com wrote, ‘Danica Patrick showed great progress on her third outing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series until contact with a backmarker put her out of the race.

After qualifying down in 37th, she dived on the inside of Michael McDowell on lap 84 at Turn One, the pair made contact and both cars ended up against the barrier.  He later took the blame for bringing her afternoon to an early end when she was running 24th and a lap down on the race leader.

“The car ahead of me was really slow and I caught him down the front straight and it was just going slow. So I went to go underneath him as he drifted up to the wall and he turned down in,” Patrick explained. “I guess I probably should have seen all the tape on the left-rear bumper and say, ‘I probably shouldn’t be on his left-rear bumper.’ But sure enough he turned down and took us both out. So, what are you going to do?”

Before the incident, Patrick had run as high as third thanks to being out of sequence with most of the leaders and running a very long first stint until lap 73. Her times on new rubber on her second tire stint looked comparable with some of those in the top-10 and she was among the fastest cars on the track right before crashing out.

“It’s a real bummer because I was really hooked up there after we got [new] tires back on and you know, we were probably one of the quicker cars on the track because we just stickered it up and I felt good,” Patrick added.’

Danica Patrick had a very full week, which culminated in her second NASCAR attempt in Fontana, CA on Saturday. After making appearances on Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen DeGeneres, multiple LA-area news shows and features in People and US Weekly magazines, she actually squeezed in some time to drive her second NASCAR race in Fontana, CA.

She had a tough go, finishing 31^st. But, she’s focused, and is doing everything right—one step at a time—and is taking her lumps with class. When you compare the last four Indy Car drivers success (or lack thereof) making the transition to NASCAR—she is right on pace to where those great drivers were in their first races.

Takes Another Silver in Today’s Super Combined

Let’s see…two days, two Olympic Women’s Alpine events, two Silver Medals! Kaenon Polarized Team Rider Julia Mancuso is proving to the world she’s no one-win-wonder, claiming her second Silver Medal in as many days in the grueling Super Combined event today at the Vancouver Winter Olympics. In the first half of the event— the Downhill—Julia led off early with a time of 1:24.96. US teammate and yesterday’s Downhill Gold medalist Lindsey Vonn edged her out by 0.8 seconds, and German skier Maria Raush also posted a slightly faster time, pushing Julia into the third slot halfway through.

Just a few hours later in the Slalom half of the competition, Julia ripped it up again, giving her a combined time of 2:10:08. Her consistent skiing across the two different courses put her back on the podium on the Silver medal stand. Maria Raush won Gold while Vonn crashed out in the slalom. Only Julia Mancuso now has a chance to medal in every Women’s Alpine event in this Winter Olympic Games.

Today’s medal landed Julia in very fine company, making her only the fifth American woman to win two alpine skiing medals in the same Olympic Winter Games – a feat that hasn’t happened since 1964.

Mancuso races on Saturday in the Super G, and Wednesday of next week in the Giant Slalom, the event where she won Gold in the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics.

Kaenon Polarized Kaenon is thrilled to share that Olympic skier Julia Mancuso just this morning claimed her second consecutive Olympic medal in the Women’s Downhill in Whistler, British Columbia. Taking the silver Wednesday, she won the gold medal for giant slalom in the 2006 Torino Games.

Sporting Black Opal Leila’s by Kaenon Polarized in the Winner’s Circle, it was a tense 15 minutes or so for Julia Mancuso Wednesday in Vancouver during the much anticipated Women’s Downhill after she posted the fastest time of the day. While TV camera’s focused on her jubilation after her run, Julia slid on her Leila’s and had to wait, skier, after skier to see if her time would stick.

Leading the field from early on with a blazing time of 1:44.75, Julia set the early pace. She held the lead until US teammate and childhood rival Lindsey Vonn, the 16th skier down the hill, put up a time of 1:44.19.

The Americans held a clearly dominant position in a race characterized by several crashes — including one to Swedish standout Anja Paerson

Mancuso’s finish of just 0.56 seconds behind the heavily favored Vonn proved that she is still very much a force to be reckoned with on the snow—especially when it counts. Elisabeth Goergl of Austria took the bronze medal, 1.46 seconds back.

It’s the third time two Americans have finished 1-2 in an Olympic Alpine race, and the first time in 26 years.
